Golaghat Polytechnic is one of the Eleven Polytechnics established by the Government of Assam in 2017 under the Directorate of Technical Education. The institute offers three years diploma programme in three branches of Engineering- Mechanical, Civil and Biomedical with an intake capacity of 60 (sixty) students in each branch totaling upto 180 (one eighty). The institute is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and is affiliated to the State Council of Technical Education (SCTE), Assam. Admission to this diploma Engineering course is based on the Polytechnic Admission Test (PAT) conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Assam.
Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, the institute is located among lush greenery in the Ulutoli area of Furkating, Golaghat district. It is around 2 km away from Furkating Chariali, nearly 2.5 km from the nearest Furkating railway station and approx. 50 km from Rowriah Airport, Jorhat. The institute covers an area of 5.95 acres. The institute includes Administrative and Academic infrastructure comprising well-lit Classrooms, Laboratories, Computer Center, Workshops, Library, Seminar Hall, Playground, etc.

About:
As said by our former President of India Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, “A library is the heart of an institution.” It is the lighthouse for information dissemination and also plays a vital role in the entire learning process of an individual right from the early days of school to higher educational days of research and beyond. The Golaghat Polytechnic Library cum Reading Room takes pride in a well-stocked library enriched with a wide collection of textbooks and reference books. The library provides quality resources and innovative services such as the subscription to the National Digital Library of India (NDLI) to stimulate creativity and intellectual curiosity among all the students as well as the faculties of the institute. The library is managed by an efficient staff under the guidance of the Institute Authority. Constant upgradation of the library list and addition of new books in every field to the current collection is regularly maintained. The library also subscribes to daily Newspapers (both local and National), magazines, journals and periodicals which keep the students updated about everything happening in and around them. To keep pace with the demand of the times, the college authority has undertaken the task of computerization of the library stock of books and their details which ensures convenient functioning. The students can also register themselves to the NDLI which is a single window platform that provides learning resources with an aim to make e-learning and education accessible to all. The Golaghat Polytechnic Library is open and provides reading room facilities to all students from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM during working days. Library cards are issued for the students which they need to carry with them while entering the library and also to borrow books from the library.
